Recommended Study Tracks
The study track a student selects should be consistent with the student’s talents, interests, current job responsibilities and/or long-range career goals. Counselors are available to assist students in their selection of a study track.
It is recommended that students new to the School of Banking take courses that provide basic principles and a broad overview, such as Principles of Banking, Consumer Bank Products or International Banking Operations. Other courses that the new student should consider are English Composition, Mathematics for Business or Human Relations in Organizations. These recommended courses will introduce concepts that will be the focus of more specialized courses in the future.
Requirements for a Second Certificate in the School of Banking
A student who completes requirements for a certificate at the Institute and wishes to earn a second certificate at TGIF must complete all certificate requirements (except the core courses) taking a minimum of 8 courses beyond the first certificate.
English Writing Skills Requirement
Students are required to successfully complete English Composition (001) to qualify for a School of Banking Certificate. During the first class of English Composition students will be given a diagnostic test. Based on their skill level, students may be placed in Basic English Writing Skills (102). Those placed in Basic English Writing Skills must also complete English Composition (001) to satisfy Certificate requirements.
