The Global Institute of Finance and Banking

"Bankers Teaching Bankers" has been the motto of The Global Institute of Finance and Banking (formerly known as the American Institute of Banking of Greater New York) for 105 years.

The world’s premier institute for banking education, our non-profit offers courses and seminars in banking, the securities industry, finance, real estate and insurance in class and on the Internet.

Students can earn Certificates in seven different concentrations:  Operations/Supervision, International Banking, Personal Financial Services, Commercial Financial Services, The Securities Industry, Real Estate/Insurance and Sales/Customer Service.

Our faculty are experts in their fields who literally "do for a living what they teach in the classroom."  Students not only receive a very practical education, they also have the ability to network and form friendships that will help them throughout their careers.  Our graduates often return to teach at the Institute.

Our programs are truly global.  Students from throughout the world attend classes in New York City while others, from countries such as Kazakhstan, Kenya and Antigua, join their US counterparts on the Internet.  They are always welcome to sit in on class lectures and meet the faculty and their fellow students when they are in New York.

We also offer blended graduate and undergraduate courses in which instructors travel to countries such as Ukraine and Egypt to teach a portion of a course in person.  Students complete the course on the Internet with the help of the instructor and local teaching assistants.

Visiting groups from numerous countries have studied at the Institute.  In addition to a custom tailored curriculum, they also have the opportunity to visit our next-door neighbor, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and its Gold Vaults, the trading pits of the New York Commodities Exchange as well as appropriate departments of our member banks.
